About Wild Cats Multiline
It’s rather fitting to find Red Tiger bringing a fine selection of big cats into play on this Safari-themed slot, and you’ll find the base game’s six reels set against the beautiful African backdrop of the Serengeti Plains. Naturally it’s imposing feline species that provide the higher paying symbols on the paytable here, with a caracal, lioness, panther, tiger and Wild-empowered Lion able to claw out big wins from spins. Now I could be picky about some of these fine cats not actually being indigenous to Africa, but this is a slot review not a natural history documentary so I’ll leave it there.
Completing the paytable are the four card suits complemented by a faceted circular symbol to cover lower pays. So far, so standard Safari slot in most respects . . . but it’s the Multiline aspect of this game that adds the twist I think will rightly catch players’ attention.
As I mentioned earlier, I suspect Multiline is Red Tiger’s response to the juggernaut success of Big Time Gaming’s Megaways concept. Like Megaways slots, Big Cats Multiline features six, rather than five reels, and each can stop with between two and seven symbol positions visible after a spin. Unlike Megaways slots, all reels match the number of symbol positions shown and traditional payline are used rather than a Ways to Win rule to evaluate winning combinations. It’s an interesting development, and means a spin can deliver an array that accommodates between four and forty-nine active paylines depending on how many rows are in view when a spin stops. That creates a whole new level of suspense on ever spin, which is a real, and indeed reel, treat in my opinion.
Heading into bonus feature territory beyond the base game, you’ll find three or more Royal Spins Scatter symbols in view will get you into the Royal Spin round. A random award of free Royal Spins flows from this, but it’s worth noting that more than three of the triggering Scatters will give you a bigger range of possible awards. And how are Royal Spins different from the common-spotted free spin?
Well, the regal presence of a Wild Lion on any free spin, adds the Royal reward that he will roar to remove all visible instances of another symbol, causing a cascade of new symbols into the vacated spaces and possibly more Wilds that can repeat the process. This is a neat extra reel modification trick that can really boost the power of this bonus to prey on the Wild Cats’ paytable for the big win we’re all on the hunt for.
