About Gladiator: Road To Rome
Behind our reelcase we glimpse a packed colosseum – the arena in which we do slots battle just as would the gladiators that are the stars of the film…and the slot. Our five reels are adorned with 9s through Aces as our low payers, while the high-paying symbols are reserved for the lead characters from the film. Commodus, Lucilla, Proximo and Tigris of Gaul make up our high-paying symbols, animating into brief film clips when they form winning combinations across any of the game’s 25 paylines.
But what of Maximus, the star of the story? He makes a stunning appearance as the game’s Stacked Wild, slashing his sword and substituting for all other game symbols except Scatters and Bonus symbols. Landing five-of-a-kind wins with Maximus also delivers the biggest win across a single payline – 1,000 coins. Playtech also ramps the epic factor up to 11 by including a suitably epic sound score to accompany our gameplay. Ridley Scott would be proud.
Bonus Features
Landing three, four or five Shield and Weapon Scatters anywhere across the reels triggers the Colosseum Free Games feature. In this arena, we now have 5, 8 or 12 free spins which which to emerge victorious. But first we must choose three shields from 12. Behind each shield lies a modifier:
- Extra Free Spins
- Win Multiplier
- Extra Wild Symbol
- Gladiator Wild Nudge
- Symbol Pays as Scatter
- Symbol Payout Boost
Landing three Helmet Bonus Scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 launches the Gladiator Bonus feature. Now, the slot dishes out a series of nine helmets automatically. They can be gold, silver or bronze, with each variant worth a cash prize (more for gold, naturally). But should we land nine gold helmets we will win the game’s progressive jackpot and be able to laud it as an Emperor of Rome.
