About Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Batman v Superman has a tough act to follow – Playtech’s popular Superman: Man of Steel slot, released in 2013. Sometimes slots sequels don’t live up to their predecessor, but this isn’t one of them. Four years is a long time in gaming development language and Playtech has poured every inch of its developing expertise into the game design and bonus features on show here.
Taking its visual clue from DC’s vibrant comics and the broody tone of the film, our game symbols all feature prominently in the movie. The Daily Planet, a Camera, Granny’s Peach Tea, Wonder Woman’s Sword & Shield, the Batmobile and glowing Kryptonite are all here – and they’re just our low-payers! Lois Lane, Alfred, Lex Luthor and the Batman v Superman logo make up our higher-paying symbols. Batman and Superman? They are reserved for our Wild symbols, along with Wonder Woman and Doomsday. The eponymous heroes are very special Shifting Wilds, however. Whenever Batman or Superman appear in the base game, they complete any winning combinations across the game’s 25 paylines before shifting to the left or the right, creating new wins as they go.
But Batman v Superman is all about these two superheros go head-to-head, and that is precisely what they do in the Batman v Superman™ Free Games feature. As the bonus game begins we must choose either superhero. Then, when they both land on the same row, they fight across the reels, leaving trails of Wilds – and winning combos – in their wake. Each time our chosen superhero wins a fight, he scores us additional free spins – even more reason to cheer on our heroes.
Our second free spins feature, the Dawn of Justice™ Free Games, triggers when Doomsday covers the entirety of reel 3. Now, we must land Superhero Wilds – Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman – to push Doomsday back. Should Doomsday make it to reel 1, our free games (and maybe the world) is over.
But that’s not all. Any spin – including non-winning spins – can trigger the DC Super Heroes Jackpot Game. Faced with a hexagonal grid, we must pick symbols of different colours. Each colour relates to one of the four jackpots – Mini, Minor, Major and Grand. When we have collected the requisite number of jackpot symbols we land the jackpot that corresponds to our collection. Epic.
