You’ve got to love The Sopranos slot machine. This is a superb Playtech production that takes clips and stills straight out of the TV series and splashes them across the reels of the game. You get the big guns from the gang together with Johnny Sac and Artie, the restaurant owner as the big paying symbols in the base-game. Hit any of these in a winning combination and they’ll come to life on the reels complete with a video clip and a famous sound-bite from the show. Everything about this game looks good and feels great. You’ll be hard pushed to find a game that’s any better when it comes to stand out visuals.

All too often when we review games on www.slotmachineonline.co.uk the audio is a disappointment. We’re really pleased to say that this isn’t the case with the wonderful sound effects on The Sopranos slot. Here you’ve got a really cool soundtrack that sounds like it could come straight out of some seedy New Jersey nightclub, perfectly setting the scene for the action on the reels. This is backed up with some top class effects when you hit the reel features, punctuating the game-play with all the right noises.

The Sopranos uses a standard casino slot set up with 25 pay-lines spread over 5 reels. The base game uses four special symbols, three of which are used to grant access to the big paying bonus features on offer here. These are complemented by the special Tony Soprano wild symbol, who else could it be, which will help you complete those all important reel combinations.

The first bonus is the randomly awarded raid bonus. This can happen at any time during the base game. Here the cops will raid Tony’s home and you’ll get a chance to help him stash his ill-gotten gains. You get four packets of money and you can place between one and four of these in any of the four locations round his property. When you’ve made your choice the cops will choose a number of the drop spots to search, taking any money they find there. The cash they miss is yours to keep.

The next bonus we’re going to visit is called the stolen goods bonus. You activate this when you hit a cargo container symbol on the first and last reels of the grid. This takes you to a map of you local area where you get the choice of ten locations to search for stashed stolen goods – each of which contain a cash prize. You get three picks, but after each pick you have to choose whether to take the money or discard it and look again. At the end of three picks you have to take the third prize amount.

Stop in three Bada Bing symbols anywhere on the middle three reels and you’ll be visiting Tony Soprano in his office. Choose one of the main characters from the game to act as your emissary and they’ll go into the big man’s chambers for a little chat, before coming out with a cash prize. Your game with either end here and you’ll get paid out, or occasionally you might be allowed to send another character in to see the boss, greatly adding to your winnings.

The final feature is the Sopranos free spin round. Hit the three black logo scatters anywhere in view to activate this rather cool bonus round. The more times you hit this bonus – the more different types of free spin round become available to you. Initially just the soldier bonus is available, giving you 25 free spins with an extra wild. Hit three bonus rounds to gain access to the capo bonus where you get twenty spins with a chance to increase a special pay-out multiplier. After hitting this feature six times you can play the boss game, with ten free spins, random wilds and a chance to add five free games with a middle reel symbol.

Finally there’s the family bonus, which uses only the big paying character symbols from the base game. Here you’ll get ten free games with a wild multiplier. Once you’ve activated these bonuses they’ll be saved for the next time you come back to this superb slot machine.

Slot Professor Says

Well I went absolutely corkers for The Sopranos HBO TV show and I have to admit that I was hooked into the online slot machine's action after just a few spins. This truly is a great game that's got everything you could want. The theme is excellent and immersive, making you feel like you're hanging out with Christopher, Tony, Paulie Walnuts and the rest of the gang, and that's before you even get onto the game-play.

The only fault I can possibly raise with the superb Playtech production on The Sopranos slot machine is the fact that reels are a little bit cluttered with scatters. However, if it wasn't for all these scatters you wouldn't have the proliferation of bonus features that make The Sopranos such a stand out game. It's loads of fun stashing your money away from the police and you get that little nervous thrill when you have to send someone into the office to see Tony in the Bada-Bing bonus. In all honesty the first time I played this super little feature I half expected someone to get whacked.

You've even got that all important lastability factor with The Sopranos. The fact that there are a whole host of different free spin rounds, which come into play after a set number of activations will keep you coming back to the reels of this machine to see what more it's got in store. Believe me when I say it's definitely worth your time getting into some of the more advanced free spin rounds as these really pack the power to pay you out big.
