Another Net Entertainments slot, another superb opening cut-scene. Robin Hood – Shifting Riches opens up with one of the most entertaining and atmospheric intro videos in online casino history, taking time to visit each of the heroes of the well know legend including Friar Tuck, Little John and Maid Marion.
This is backed with one of the most epic pieces of gaming soundtrack we’ve ever heard – from the moment you load this title up, you’re immersed in the game play. This good looking intro film is followed up with a base game that doesn’t disappoint. Robin Hood – Shifting Riches gives you a 20 pay-line set up that uses a standard casino slot 5 reel format.
This comes complete with a Robin Hood logo wild to help you complete your wins. You’ve got a lot of good looking reel art and animation, with the epic music still bubbling away. Score in any combination of the big paying Robin Hood character symbols to activate a special animation. Robin fires his bow, Tuck quaffs ale, Little John head-butts knights and so on.
There’s not much room for a background on this slot machine, but what little border there is to the reel games is filled with beautiful autumnal leaves drifting in a late summer breeze.
Robin Hood – Shifting Riches features one of the most ingenious re-spin features we’ve ever seen. Stop in any winning combination of symbols on the reels and all the reels ‘shift’ along one position to the right, leaving a gap for a new reel to appear on the left end of grid, in position one. This reel then re-spins (at no cost to the player) and new combinations are formed. Stop in any win on the first ‘shift’ and it’s paid out at 2x the normal value. Wins on the second shift are paid out at 3x the normal value and on the third shift (and any subsequent shift) all your prizes will come in at 5x the standard pay-outs.
The Robin Hood – Shifting Riches bonus game is activated by a persistent equity feature. Stop in the special gold money bags symbols anywhere on the reels and you’ll see Robin Hood appear and drop the bag into a casket at the bottom of the reel. Collect four moneybags in any of the given caskets and you’ll be off to the bonus game. Hit a win that requires a reel shift and on the shift the money bag will turn into wild symbol for the duration of the re-spins.
Stop playing and all your moneybags will be held in place for the next time you come back to the reels for a whole year. Once you’ve got your four moneybags in any of the five caskets, Robin Hood will appear from behind the reels and carry the treasure chest off into a sunlit scene – this lovely animation heralds the oncoming free spin round, where you’ll get ten free spins.
First stop however is a screen where Friar Tuck spins a single virtual reel to find out which of the Robin Hood – Shifting Riches character will be included in the game as an extra wild. Then it’s off to the Robin Hood – Shifting Riches to take your ten free spins, with the additional wild in play on the reels and the shifting mechanism still in full effect.
The only difference is that here you also have a special Free Spins symbol included on the reels. Stop in two of these for an five free spins to be added to your total and three for an additional ten spins.
Slot Professor Says
Robin Hood – Shifting Riches. Another cracker of a game from Net Entertainment that does just about everything a slot machine can do to grab your attention. It's hard for me to write these little sections when a developer knocks everything out of the park with their production. However, unlike Jack and the Beanstalk and Gonzo's Quest, Robin Hood – Shifting Riches falls a little short when it comes to pay-outs. Yes, there's loads of action and the reel action is pretty damn clever, but you compared to the other machines in this range it just doesn't feel like the prizes are so available.,
What don't I like about Robin Hood – Shifting Riches? Well in my opinion the free spin feature is a little too difficult to hit. Whilst the fact you keep your money bags for a year is good, which means that your persistent equity is difficult to waste, it does seem to take a lot of money to get to this bonus round, which can sometimes be a little bit of a let-down. Of course, there is the argument that after several sessions you've built up a considerable amount of bags in each box, so there should be a gaming sesh where you hit several bonuses in succession, but how much money did you have to spend getting there?
