If you like your slots with a bit of super powered charm then you’ll be flying at the sight of Natural Powers. This is a cartoon based, slightly tongue in cheek title that revolves around four super-heroines and their elemental abilities that are based on ice, fire, earth and air. Each of these special abilities has the power to affect the action on the reels and bring you in a whole stack of wins.
The graphics on Natural Powers taken on that cell-shaded form that will amuse and inspire comic book loving slots players. There’s plenty of good looking action on the reels and the whole animation set is both smooth and well fashioned. Whilst this game does not necessarily stand up to the likes of the excellent Gonzo’s Quest and Merlin’s Magic, it does pop in some charming little touches that make the game work.
Base game wise you’re looked at an extended grid that gives you 40 pay-lines of action with an extra feature bet of 20 coins to pay for all the fun and games this slot has up its sleeves. In addition to the wild symbols and scatters on the reels that function exactly as you’d expect there’s also a cascading system. This sees any winning combinations you hit disappearing in a flash of magic and leaving spaces into which the symbols above can drop. This allows you to build big chains of wins and hit some massive prizes.
Any time during the base game one of the super-heroines can pop up and affect the action on the reels. Different elements are destroyed by each of the ladies abilities, clearing any symbols associated with the weaker force off the reels. Needless to say this leaves some pretty big gaps on the grid that are quickly filled up using the cascading reel sequence to provide you with even more wins.
Stop in three or more of the bonus scatters anywhere in view on the base game grid and you’ll be taken to a second screen where you get to select the spins and multiplier for your free spins. In a fashion similar to the popular IGT Garden Party slot, the more spins you take the lower your multiplier and the higher your multiplier, the less spins you’ll receive. It’s that simple. As a result we tend to always pick the middle of the road going for a good multiplier and a good spin count.
Slot Professor Says
The keen eyed amongst you may have already spotted that Natural Powers is a reskinning of another popular IGT slot, Transformers Battle for Cybertron. This original game didn’t quite make the same splash at the casinos as some of their other titles like Siberian Storm and Miss Red so it looks like they’ve redone it to see if they can make it appeal to a more feminine or perhaps even a younger audience. It seems to me however that IGT will use any excuse to reskin games. If it’s a hit then they reskin to maximise income, if it’s a flop then they reskin to maximise income. Fair enough I guess…
Do I prefer Natural Powers over the Transformers title? I have to actually boldly say that I most definitely do. It has everything you could want from a slot game and it seems to me that when you use the mystery reel feature that there are often a ton more wilds that fall into place than you used to get on Transformers. As a result I think these small and subtle difference make this game far more playable.
So what about bonus games? I usually do a section where I tell you how to get the most out of your bankroll and feature fun, but in this one I’m simply going to tell you to go wild. Often with the free spins you can benefit from taking the biggest multipliers and having that one glorious spin rather than going for the small money and trying to hedge your bets. Go on, live a little and take a risk – after all, isn’t that what slots play is all about?
