Betsoft’s Good Girl Bad Girl is an ingenious slot machine that uses a mechanism that’s truly innovative and very clever. We’ve never quite seen anything like it on any slot machine – you can play in two modes that offer different prizes and wilds. Whilst there are games out there that use different modes, such as Battlestar Galactica from Microgaming, they do not allow you to select your mode like Good Girl Bad Girl.
Graphically Good Girl Bad is another winner from Betsoft. The whole reel set up and arrangement fades from the Good Girl side on the left, which comes complete with heavenly symbols and all manner of light styles reminiscent of the Elysium Fields, whilst the Bad Girl side is straight out of the depths of Hell. Couple this with good looking controls, excellent backgrounds and not one, but two superbly designed little sprites and you’re looking at a truly breathtaking slice of eye-candy here.
The sound effects on Good Girl Bad Girl are absolutely wild and crazy. Listen to the whipping wind whistle its way around the reels as you take your spins to the back noise of screams, lightning bolts and all kinds of supernatural sounds. When you actually hit the spin button you’ll be greeted by a much more upbeat sonic palette that gives you a small slice of pop style music helping you get in touch with the
Base-game wise there are fifteen pay-lines available in Good Girl Bad Girl. The special dual mechanism gives you access to many different kinds of features that are explained later in the review – there is nothing ordinary about this slot, other than the bet controls that allow you to structure your stake in accordance with your spend on the reels.
As with many Betsoft slots you can gamble any small wins you hit on Good Girl Bad Girl on a coin flip game. If you can correctly predict which side of the coin will land face up then you will double your money – no questions asked. Hit a win and you can collect or return to the reels, lose and your cash is taken away from you and you’re sent back to the base game with your tail between your legs.
There are three playing modes in Good Girl Bad Girl, which can be selected using the large meter symbol in the middle of the game controls. Choose the Bad Girl mode to pay out for combinations reading from right to left on the reels. Good Girl mode conversely pays out for combinations reading from left to right – or you can select the dual mode that activates both the Good Girl and Bad Girl pay out systems simultaneously.
During the base game halo and pitchfork symbols can land in anywhere on the grid. If you have Good Girl mode activated, the halo symbols, which will occur on the first three reels of the game, will change into either 1x or 2x multipliers. In Bad Girl mode the Pitchfork symbols, which only appear on the last three reels, will change into 1-4x wild multipliers. In the dual mode you’ll get the benefits of both wild types to help you score in some heavenly prizes.
When the halo and pitchfork symbols land in side by side on the reels, this activates a special click me feature. Here you’re presented with four presents containing small, medium and large prizes alongside a collect. In the Good Girl variant the glowing boxes contain the small and medium prizes and the non-glowing boxes contain either the large prize or the collect. This arrangement is reversed in the Bad Girl variant where the non glowing boxes contain the medium and small prizes and the glowing gift boxes contain either the large prize or the collect.
Hit three of the money wheel scatters anywhere in view and you’ll be taken to a special second screen bonus where you get to spin a wheel of fortune to receive bonus prizes – with a chance to go for either the Good Girl or Bad Girl progressive prizes that are shown on top of the grid. If you are playing in dual mode here you can choose which one of the two jackpots you wish to go for.
Slot Professor Says
Good Girl Bad Girl is a truly immense production. I’ve never seen a game mechanism like this before and the idea of the action on the reels is made all the more potent by the wonderful Betsoft wrapping that’s placed around the clever mathematics that sit at the heart of this online slot machine. There’s more than enough action here to keep even the most hungry slot hound busy and the visuals and sonics are excellent entertainment.
Criticisms of this game are few and far between. My only real comment is that the reel prize game seems the be a little bit bland in the context of everything else available here – what I would have really liked to see is some big free spin action like that in Microgaming’s Girls with Guns 2- Frozen Dawn. The money wheel is good, but you ultimately want a bigger and better bonus than those on offer here.
My final piece of advice is to always play this game in the dual mode. OK, you can go for the Bad Girl mode that seems to be the way to go if you want high variance or the Good Girl mode if you like lots of wins and don’t like risk – but I always say take the best of both worlds. Although there’s an Ancient Navaho saying that says never chase two rabbits as you’ll lose them both, that isn’t the case here where double the money equals double the action and ultimately double the fun.
