Elvis the King Lives uses a classic slot machine theme. As prolific as Monopoly and as well received as Irish title like Rainbow Riches Pots of Gold, we are not likely to see the end of these games any time soon. This one uses a proprietary system called the Double Moneyburst arrangement from WMS and provides players with a high value pay-table experience that can blast a load of cash straight into your bankroll.
Presentation wise Elvis the King Lives online slot game hits all the notes you’d expect from a premier slot development house like WMS. The music is straight out of the King’s playbook featuring well known hits from his catalogue and you can hear the perpetual stream of people chattering in the background as you wait for the next spin. This is coupled up with graphics and artwork that are fairly standard for this kind of game, featuring a jukebox style background and grid with hush puppies and blue suede shoes in the symbol set.
The Elvis the King Lives slot uses a unique base game arrangement called the Double Moneyburst. This gives you two primary banks of reels that use a 2×2 arrangement leading to a shared set of reels that offer a 3×6 hit grid where you can make the money on this machine. You need to hit aligning symbols in the first reel sets to make the big money by connecting with the remaining reels, which feature stacked wilds to help you on your winning way.
There are three ways to activate the feature on Elvis the King Lives. The marketing bumf says seven, but we feel this is gilding the lily a touch. If you stop in the same symbol on all four stops in either of the primary reel sets or you hit three scatters on the secondary reel set this will activate the bonus. The difference is that if you manage to hit the same symbol on either primary reel set then these will be locked in place for the duration of your bonus round.
When you have activated the bonus you move to a second screen sub-game where you get a chance to add cash and free spins to your bonus winnings. Then it’s over to the second set of reels where you’ll receive a standard five free spins plus any accrued from the sub-game and away you spin. There are re-triggers available here from the three scatter system, but it is worth noting that if you managed to hit the similar symbol trigger the remaining primary reel set will utilise a single large reel that fills all stops on any given spin.
Slot Professor Says
If you like your slots with something a little different then Elvis the King Lives is the game for you. Be wary however as this is a high variance, red hot volatility title that smacks you around as you wait for that big payout to come on and dance you home. With the stacked wilds littered all over the reels and the chance to lock in four of a kind in the primary reel sets and trigger the bonus, an experience slot head should be able to taste the potential on offer from this game.
Unfortunately one of the most frustrating things about Elvis the King Lives is the variance of the free spin round. When you hit the standard feature trigger of three scatters on the standard reel set, you kind of expect to have a bumpy ride on the bonus reels. However, when you manage to lock in four of a kind in the first reel set then you get the feeling that you’re going to hit it big. With only five standard spins on offer to test your mettle this can often fail to deliver the prizes you’re expecting. Whilst serious slot heads might argue that this intensifies the wins when you do finally hit them, more often than not this heightened expectation leaves me a little juiced off.
Do I rate Elvis the King Lives? This is certainly a very playable slot game, but I do question whether WMS has managed to hit the right sweet notes with the bonus rounds and the standard reel set up. There are some big wins available but more often than not you’re suffering from protracted dead spins at the reels, which can’t deliver the fun you’re after. Even a standard set of smaller wins would lighten this game up, but over time you just watch your cash drain all a little too quickly here.
