100 Pandas is a hundred pay-line slot from top development house IGT. It uses their system of stacked wilds, where wild symbols appear in vertical clusters on the reels, which helps players score in the big multiple combination wins. Scatters, in the form of yin yang symbols, are found on the middle three reels. In classic slot machine style you’ll have to hit three of these to get into the free spin round.
When it comes to looks, style and presentation, there is no faulting 100 Pandas. This is an extremely well put together game – you’d of course expect nothing less from IGT. The whole reel set up sits in a panda orientated background. The symbols on the reels are conventional poker royals, decorated in an oriental style script, together with two different types of panda icons to make up the numbers as the high paying symbols. Musically, the slot also excels, blending Far East themes with pan pipe music and gongs to create just the right atmosphere for the action.
100 Pandas’ stacked wilds are the key to hitting it big in this game. When you combine these massive clusters of wilds with the game’s huge amount of pay-lines, you’ll see there’s a lot of chances to get multiple symbol combinations from the reel game. However to balance this huge amount of winning potential, IGT have given this game a very low variance pay-table. The prizes on offer, as you’re going to be hitting them all the time, are relatively low compared to those you can find on other slots. Is this a good thing? Depends what you’re looking for in a slot playing session.
No IGT game these days would be complete without its free spin round and 100 Pandas doesn’t disappoint on this front. Hit the special scatters on the middle three reels to grab a ride onto the second set of reels where you’ll get 10 free spins. These reels are packed with even more stacked wilds and free spin scatters, which allow you to re-trigger the bonus and add another 10 free spins to your total.
When you have a high pay-line slot with stacked wilds, a free spin game makes perfect sense. This type of feature gives you loads of winning chances on the second set of reels, where the big base game structure perfectly combines with the extra stacked wilds on the grid. Although there’s no guarantee of prizes, if you do hit in this bonus, then you’re likely to really hit it big.
Slot Professor Says
I really don't know where IGT are at these days. 100 Pandas is a good looking slot machine, but you've got to ask if it really provides anything different in terms of gaming experience than Wild Wolf and Coyote Moon. It just seems to me that this once superb development house are losing their touch and falling back on their laurels to look for inspiration. Wolf Run, undoubtedly the parent game for this big pay-line slot, was released years ago now and the rest of the competition have caught up. Just take a look at Amazon Wild for instance – this game gives you so much more character, colour and animations in the base game than 100 Pandas, and it's from a less reputable, smaller company.
Do I have anything good to say about 100 Pandas? Yes, if you like your slots big with lots of winning chances that exactly what you've got here. Everything works well and the colour-scheme and theme of the game are consistent through out. Will the pandas in the background and on the reels endear this machine to lovers of nature and supporters of the WWF? I don't know, but there must be some kind of angle with which IGT are coming in with this production.
I'll try not to be too damning here. IGT have set their standards incredibly high and thus they're failing to meet their own criteria. Compare 100 Pandas to some of the Novomatic slot machines and its still a reel winner. I just want to see something different, something other than the big-grid-coupled-with-stacked-wilds formula from this mighty development house. You will have fun playing this game, but it won't offer you anything that you haven't seen 100 Pandas times before in countless slot machines. Come on IGT, the internet is the world of possibility and open to a world of imaginative creations – if someone out there from the company is reading this, give me a call and we can talk, because you guys are obviously suffering from a inspiration freeze.
